Cupping therapy in Zagreb
Suction that lifts tissue instead of pressing into it, which is why it reaches restrictions that pressure alone cannot.
In short
A session costs 35 EUR, performed by a licensed physiotherapist at Prisavlje 12, Zagreb. No referral needed. Full list on the pricing page.
What it does
Cups create negative pressure that lifts skin and fascia away from the muscle underneath. Most hands-on techniques compress tissue; cupping decompresses it, which is why it can free up a restriction that has not responded to pressure.
Cups can be left in place or moved along the tissue while the suction holds. Which one is used depends on what the assessment found.
The marks
Circular discolouration is normal and is not a bruise from trauma. It fades over several days to two weeks. It is not a measure of how well the treatment worked, and darker marks do not mean a better result.
If you have an event, a photoshoot or a beach holiday in the next fortnight, say so before we start and we choose a different technique.
Where it is used
Most commonly across the upper back and shoulders, the lower back, and the calves and IT band in runners and cyclists.
Frequently asked questions
- How long do the marks last?
- Usually three to seven days, sometimes up to two weeks. They fade like a bruise and are not painful.
- Does cupping detoxify the body?
- No. The measurable effects are local: tissue mobility, blood flow to the area and a change in how sensitive it is. That is enough reason to use it where it is indicated, without claiming more.
- Is it safe on blood thinners?
- Tell us before treatment. Suction is reduced or another technique is chosen, because marking will be more pronounced.
- Can I combine cupping with massage?
- Yes, and it is often the more effective order: cupping to free the fascia, then hands-on work and exercise while the tissue is more mobile.
