Frequently asked questions
Referrals, insurance, prices and what actually happens in the first appointment.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need a referral to book?
- No. VALENS Medical is a private clinic, so you book directly. There is no referral requirement and no public waiting list.
- Do you speak English?
- Yes. The assessment, the treatment and your written home exercise plan are all in English.
- How much does it cost?
- Physical therapy is 70 EUR for a 45 to 60 minute session including the assessment. Targeted massage starts at 35 EUR. The full list is on the pricing page.
- Will my insurance cover it?
- Croatian public insurance does not cover private clinics. Some supplementary and international private policies reimburse part of the cost. Ask for an itemised receipt and check with your insurer before you assume either way.
- How many sessions will I need?
- Acute muscle and joint problems commonly settle in 3 to 5 sessions. Chronic conditions and post-operative rehabilitation usually take 8 to 12 sessions combined with exercises at home. You get an estimate after the first assessment, not a package you must buy up front.
- What happens in the first appointment?
- History, physical testing of movement and strength, then treatment in the same session. You leave with a plan and a small number of exercises.
- What should I bring and wear?
- Clothing you can move in. Bring any imaging, specialist reports or a discharge letter if you have them. If you do not have them, come anyway.
- Can you treat me at home?
- Yes, within the city of Zagreb. Home visit rates are separate from clinic rates and are higher, so call for the current price for your service.
- Can I be treated after surgery?
- Yes, once your surgeon has cleared you to begin rehabilitation. Bring the discharge letter or the surgeon's instructions so the plan matches the stage of your recovery.
- How do I book?
- Call (+385) 92 323 8233 or email us. Say what hurts and when you are available, and we confirm a time.
Still unsure?
Call us and describe the problem. If physiotherapy is not the right answer, you will be told that on the phone rather than after you have paid for a session. See contact for details.
