A session costs 35 EUR, performed by a licensed physiotherapist at Prisavlje 12, Zagreb. No referral needed. Full list on the pricing page.
The headache connection
A large share of what people call tension headaches begins in the neck. The upper trapezius, the suboccipital muscles at the base of the skull and the levator scapulae all refer pain into the head in patterns that feel exactly like a headache and respond to treating the neck rather than the head.
The clue is usually that the headache builds through the day, sits on one side, and worsens with screen time.
Why it returns
A neck that carries the head forward of the shoulders is doing extra work all day, and no amount of massage changes that arrangement. Treatment that lasts pairs the hands-on work with a small number of exercises and one or two changes to how your screen and chair are set up.
Frequently asked questions
- Can neck massage help my headaches?
- If the headache originates in the neck, frequently yes. If it does not, massage will feel pleasant and change nothing. The assessment is what separates those two cases, and it happens before the treatment.
- I get dizzy when I turn my head. Is massage safe?
- Tell us before we start. Dizziness with neck movement needs assessing rather than treating blind, and some causes are a reason to send you to a doctor first.
- Is it safe to have my neck massaged if I have arthritis?
- Yes, with the technique adapted. Degenerative change in the neck is extremely common with age and is not by itself a reason to avoid treatment.
- How long is a neck session?
- 30 to 45 minutes, which in practice includes the upper back and shoulders, because the tension rarely stops at the neck.
